One of the teachers at my school walked into our classroom and said "Greetings, Mortals" rather loudly. One of the other girls in the class went ahead and responded. I can't remember what she actually said, but I remember it sounded a bit like "Greetings, Satan". I know that's not what she said, but it sure sounded like it.
Once I went to a Renaissance Fair and someone greeted me as a mortal, I said "who says I'm mortal?" The next day I went back wearing fairy wings and saw the same person and I was like "see? I'm not mortal" They agreed.
My cousin is 21 and he's been doing this since he was 7...He eventually convinced himself he was a dragon/demon/angel/secret agent of hell sent to watch over us... It's amusing and annoying at the same time (annoying cause he keeps referring to everyone as unworthy of his company and acts like hes a king when in fact he's more like...a pauper
after a conversation with some online buddies over who would be what god I have adapted the habit of referring to most people in the chat room as "mortals" I think I'll start doing that everywhere though
